Removing Jetpack

This website has been running Jetpack, one of the most common WordPress plug-ins. It is good, and useful. However, it has a huge number of functions, of which I use hardly any, and it is a bad idea, from both a security and a performance perspective, to have lots of code you aren’t using on your system. Thus, I planned to remove it, and I have transitioned to specialised alternatives for most of the functions I do use. The only one I think I can’t replace is the “Like” button, because that works through WordPress.com, and those features are made available to other sites through Jetpack.

So, after I have turned Jetpack off, everything except likes should still work, but it is possible that something else will break, either immediately or after a while. If so, please let me know, and I will try to fix it.

Sorry, this post has nothing to do with Shinto…
